Project 3.0

A 103 year old historic building is being converted to a zero energy use structure utilizing alternative methods from around the world.

The Roosevelt is located in the heart of Ybor City Florida, Tampa Bay's historic entertainment district. The property was originally used as a watering station for President Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders. Ybor City's 7th Avenue was recently awarded one of 10 best streets in America by the American Planning Association : 7th Avenue Award.

The building will serve as infrastructure for creative expression, business incubation and host a wide array of cultural events.

Earthship Florida

An earthship is a house completely build from recycled materials and 100% off grid. What this means is that the home generates its own electricity, processes its sewage and waste without being hooked up to municipal sewer lines and even grows its own food.

Project 3.0 partner Bryan Roberts with Eco-Tech Construction is the general contractor on Florida's first earthship project. Bryan successfully amended the Florida state building code in order to obtain construction permits; basically allowing alternative – yet proven – engineering to adopted into the building code.

The construction site serves as a mini campus teaching workshops in sustainable living practices. College credit is available.

This show documents the evolution of an affordable housing concept of homes to be build out of used shipping containers. Developer Rudy Arnauts and contractor Bryan Roberts from Project 3.0 set out to build the best affordable housing community possible. These homes will incorporate off grid technologies brought into the picture from the Project 3.0 & earthship projects and will contunuously evolve.
